TGF Fellow 2016

Laetitia Delrez was awarded a Master's degree in Space Sciences at the University of Liege (Belgium) in 2012. For her Master's thesis, she studied three transiting short-period gas giant planets, the so-called hot Jupiters, using the Belgian TRAPPIST robotic telescope. This work triggered her passion for observational astronomy and convinced her to pursue a career in astrophysical research. She did her PhD at the University of Liège under the supervision of Dr Michaël Gillon. She has been mostly working on observational studies of transiting hot Jupiters related to both their detection and atmospheric characterization. She defended her thesis on 30th September 2016 and will hold the TGF fellowship in the Cavendish Laboratory of the University of Cambridge (UK), in the team of Prof. Didier Queloz. She plans to extend her research towards the discovery and atmospheric study of potentially habitable Earth-sized exoplanets by taking part in the new ground-based SPECULOOS transit survey.
